Parameter Tree ​

Introduction ​

This document details the process of viewing and managing device parameters through the CWMP (CPE WAN Management Protocol) protocol on the ACS (Auto Configuration Server) system. This feature allows a granular control over the settings of the managed devices.

Access to Functionality

Path: Devices menu -> Select equipment -> Properties -> Parameter tree

Overview of the Parameter Tree ​

  • What? All parameters delivered by the device via CWMP are displayed in a unified tree
  • What? Allows direct viewing and editing of device-specific settings

Example: Wi-Fi Channel Configuration ​

Method 1: Via Interface ​

  • Change the Wi-Fi channel between automatic and manual via the graphical interface

Method 2: CWMP Parameters ​

  1. Access device model specific path
  2. Locate theAutoChannelEnableparameter
  3. Edit value: -0: Automatic channel disabled -1: Automatic channel enabled

Edit Parameters ​

  1. Find the desired parameter in the tree
  2. Click the edit button next to the parameter
  3. Enter the new value
  4. Additional options:
  • Update only this parameter
  • Copy the parameter

Special Tags ​

Modifiable

  • What? Allows you to create new parameter instances (if supported by the device)
  • Useful to add settings like port redirecting rules
  • Process:
  1. Click "Add instances"
  2. Edit the parameters of the new instance directly in the tree

Removable ​

  • Allows you to delete instances of parameters
  • Example: Remove an existing port redirecting rule

Best Practices ​

  1. Document all changes made via parameter tree
  2. Test changes on a non-critical device before applying on a large scale
  3. Use parameter search to locate specific settings quickly
  4. Keep up to date on the CWMP capabilities of managed devices

Security considerations ​
