Connected Host Score

Introduction

The main purpose of the connected hosts score feature is to help system users monitor the quality of Wi-Fi connections in a simplified way. For this, a new card has been implemented on the dashboard that presents by signal level the most critical devices, which need to give a preventive attention and look;

Access to Features

Way: Devices > Edit > Connectivity tab > Connected devices.

Benefits

  • What? The quality score allows prioritizing services, optimizing technical support and improving the overall experience of subscribers.
  • Reduced calls to company support.
  • What? More assertive and efficient service.

Network Statistics - Wi-Fi The functionality of connected hosts score aims to provide a view to clearly and practically monitor the quality of the customers' Wi-Fi connections. For this, a new card was developed on the dashboard, Hosts and Wi-Fi Quality that separates the devices by signal level (bad, medium and excellent).

The score feature (score) enables proactively identifying customers with low signal quality, enabling preventive actions before the problem generates support calls, relying on a detailed view of the connected devices, including how many devices have connected on each network (2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz and wired).

Wi-Fi network statistics are presented in a card that displays the devices by score range. Each device connected to the system receives a score based on the intensity of the Wi-Fi signal it is receiving. The overall score displayed represents the average scores of all connected hosts. The quality of the Wi-Fi signal is classified into three levels: The score starts at zero when quality is considered very bad.

Alert Message

In this card, an alert is also displayed that informs the amount of devices in the critical Wi-Fi score range. By clicking on it, you will be directed to Wi-Fi Quality View and hosts, which displays customers with critical signal, which may be interfering and presenting poor quality on the connection.

Wi-Fi quality and Hosts

The host quality view displays a list of all devices and the signal average of all hosts connected to each device in a card on the right of the view screen. Before editing the device, you can view the amount of connected hosts, which enables quick decision-making.

Hosts connected and Wi-Fi quality

The Summary tab highlights Connected Hosts card and Wi-Fi Quality, which displays detailed information about connected hosts, including model, IP, RSSI (signal level), MAC address and network frequency (2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz).

The score of each device is calculated based on the Wi-Fi signal intensity and is influenced by factors such as network frequency, connection pattern (Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6) and noise level. When no host is selected, the system presents the overall average of the Wi-Fi score.

In the signal chart, it is possible to visualize the signal intensity history (dBm) of each host, stored for up to 7 days since the last communication with the ACS. In addition, for Huawei and ZTE devices, the system allows to block hosts directly by ACS.

Band cheering

When the device is compatible with the band sterilizing feature, it automatically directs the connection to the most appropriate band, balancing range and performance. This behavior contributes to a better connection experience and positively impacts the calculation of the average Wi-Fi score.

Final considerations

Connected host score functionality simplifies management and quality monitoring of Wi-Fi connections, allowing a proactive and preventive approach to customer connection issues. By maintaining a data history and offering integrated editing and blocking tools, the solution not only improves support efficiency, but also promotes an improved experience for subscribers.
