File tab
Introduction
This document details the process of viewing and updating firmware on devices managed by ACS. The system allows you to list the available firmware files and facilitates the process of sending new Firmware to the devices.
Way: Devices Menu > Select Equipment > Files tab.
Fundamental concepts
Available Firmware View The system displays a complete list of firmware and vendor files available on the ACS server. This list serves as an inventory of all firmware versions that can be applied to managed devices.
Download Files
The system enables the download of firmware files, optimizing the time of support attendants. To download, click the three points and select the option Download File. Firmware Update Process
Step ...-------------------------- Selection
"Let go of one of the files next to send it to the device"
Make sure to select the correct firmware for the specific model of the device being updated.
Firmware File Management
Firmware File Management was created to simplify and ensurethat you can quickly identify the most up-to-date versionof firmware for yourdevices**. Previously, long and complex names made it difficult to know if a file was actually the latest version. To resolve this, by doing upload of a new firmware file, you can** checkthe option"Most updated version"**. If ticked, a The validation of which file is the most updated is based on Manufacturer and Model of the device. The system ensures that only one file by combination of Manufacturer and Model can have the "Updated Version" seal.
- What happens if you try to mark a new file as updated, and there is already one with this stamp?*
- When trying to do upload of a new file and mark the option "Updated Version", the system detects that there is already an active file for that Manufacturer and Model.
- A warning will be displayed, asking if you want to replace the status of the currently marked file.
- If you click on Confirm (Yes), the Old filelose the seal
- If you click No, the mark "Most updated version" will be ignoredto the new file, which will be sent to the system without the seal **. The old file will remain the updated version. In short, the "Updated Version" mark ensures that the system always points to the most relevant file for that specific hardware .

Display on Devices
For devices with an old version of firmware, the system will display the information: "There is a newer firmware version." This allows the process of identifying outdated devices and the later upgrade are much more efficient.
Practical Examples
Best Practices
- Planning: Schedule firmware updates for low network traffic periods
- Test: When possible, test the new firmware on a non-critical device before applying across the network
- Documentation: Keep a record of firmware versions applied to each device
- Rollback: Have a rollback plan if the update causes unexpected problems Troubleshooting If you encounter problems during the update process:
- Check firmware compatibility with device model
- Ensure that the device has stable energy throughout the process
- If the update fails, try restarting the device and repeating the process
- In case of persistent problems, consider restoring the previous firmware or contacting technical support
Final considerations
firmware update is a crucial part of the maintenance and security of network devices. Use the tools provided by ACS to keep your devices up to date with the latest security improvements and fixes. Proactive firmware management contributes significantly to the stability and efficiency of the network infrastructure.
